Indications

• Type 2 diabetes mellitus: Adjunct to diet and exercise to improve blood glucose control.

• Used as monotherapy when metformin is unsuitable or in combination with metformin, sulfonylureas, thiazolidinediones, SGLT2 inhibitors, or insulin when control is inadequate 

• Not indicated for Type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis
   

Instructions 

1. Dosage:

   • 5 mg once daily (or 2.5 mg daily if eGFR <45 mL/min) 

   • No dose adjustment needed for age or mild–moderate hepatic impairment; not recommended in ESRD or severe hepatic impairment 

2. Administration:

   • Swallow whole with water, with or without food, at consistent daily timing.

   • Do not split or chew tablets. 

3. Missed dose:

   • Take as soon as remembered; do not double dose on the same day 

4. Duration:

   • Long-term therapy; maintain if effective and well-tolerated, alongside lifestyle measures.
