Indications

• Primary use: management of Type 2 diabetes mellitus, especially in overweight patients when diet and exercise alone are insufficient.

• Approved as monotherapy or in combination with other oral antidiabetics or insulin for adults, children (≥10 years), and adolescents.

• Also used as an adjunct in poorly controlled Type 1 diabetes
   

Instructions

• Administration: Take orally with or after meals; swallow whole—do not crush or chew.

• Dosage (Adults): Start with 1 tablet twice or three times daily. After 10–15 days, adjust based on blood glucose. Max usual dose is 3 g/day in divided doses.

• Children ≥10 years: Initiate with 500 mg or 850 mg once daily, adjust after 10–15 days; max 2 g/day.
