Indications

• Used to treat endocrine disorders, rheumatic conditions, dermatologic, allergic, respiratory, eye, hematologic, neoplastic, gastrointestinal diseases, edematous states, and serves as adjunctive therapy in tuberculous meningitis with subarachnoid block, plus acute multiple sclerosis exacerbations
  
   

  Instructions

• Adults – Dosage:

  • For adrenocortical insufficiency: 4–12 mg daily (single or divided doses), often with mineralocorticoids.

  • For other uses: 4–48 mg daily, dose and number of daily doses adjusted based on condition severity 

• Children:

  • For adrenal insufficiency: ~117 µg/kg or 3.3 mg/m² daily.

  • For other conditions: 0.4–1.7 mg/kg or 12.5–50 mg/m² daily, split as needed 

• Administration & Precautions:

  • Swallow whole with water (no specific meal requirement).

  • Use with caution in infections, TB, ocular herpes, hypertension, osteoporosis, diabetes, psychosis, ulcerative colitis, and surgical stress. Avoid abrupt discontinuation to prevent adrenal insufficiency
