Indications

• Used for chronic gouty arthritis, managing hyperuricemia associated with gout 

• Adjuvant in antibiotic therapy: prolongs β‑lactam antibiotic plasma levels (penicillins) .

 

Instructions

• Adults (gout): 250 mg twice daily for 1 week, then 500 mg twice daily (up to 2 g/day)

• As antibiotic adjunct: up to 2 g daily in divided doses

• Administration: Swallow whole with food to reduce GI upset; do not chew/crush .
