Indications

• Indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycaemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus, including use alongside insulin or other oral hypoglycaemic agents

 

Instructions

• Adults: start with 1–2 mg once daily, taken with or just before the first main meal (usually breakfast); adjust dose gradually (up to 8 mg/day) based on blood glucose monitoring.

• Administration: swallow film‑coated tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew; ensure meals are not skipped to reduce hypoglycaemia risk

• Precautions: Monitor for hypoglycaemia—carry quick sugar; avoid alcohol; use cautiously or avoid in renal/hepatic impairment, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or if allergic to sulfonylureas; elderly and those with comorbidities may need lower starting doses
