• Active Ingredient: Cefixime 400 mg

Indications
Ixime 400mg tablets are indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including:

• Upper Respiratory Tract Infections (URTI): such as pharyngitis and tonsillitis caused by susceptible strains of Streptococcus pyogenes.
• Lower Respiratory Tract Infections (LRTI): including acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis.
• Urinary Tract Infections (UTI): such as cystitis and pyelonephritis caused by susceptible organisms.
• Otitis Media: middle ear infections caused by susceptible bacteria.
• Uncomplicated Gonorrhea: cervical or urethral infections caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae.

It is important to note that cefixime is not effective against viral infections such as the common cold or influenza.


Instructions for Use

• Dosage: The recommended dose for adults is 400 mg once daily. For uncomplicated gonorrhea, a single 400 mg dose is recommended.
• Administration: Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not chew, crush, or break the tablet.
• Food Intake: Cefixime can be taken with or without food.
• Missed Dose: If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember. If it's almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose—do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
• Alcohol: Moderate alcohol consumption does not significantly affect the efficacy of cefixime. However, excessive alcohol intake may increase the risk of side effects.
• Renal Impairment: Use with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment may be necessary based on creatinine clearance.
• Duration of Therapy: Continue the full course of therapy as prescribed, even if symptoms improve, to ensure complete eradication of the infection.
