Indications: Diovan is indicated for:

Hypertension (high blood pressure)

Heart failure (NYHA class II-IV)

Post-myocardial infarction (heart attack) with left ventricular dysfunction

Delay progression to type 2 diabetes in hypertensive patients with impaired glucose tolerance at cardiovascular risk

Instructions:

Dosage:
-
Hypertension: 80 mg once daily; may be increased to 160 mg or 320 mg once daily if needed.

Heart failure: 40 mg twice daily, up-titrated to 80 mg and 160 mg twice daily as tolerated.

Post-MI: 20 mg twice daily, increased to 40 mg, then up to 160 mg twice daily as tolerated.

Administration:

Take with or without food.

Swallow tablets whole; do not chew, crush, or break.

Take at the same time each day.

Precautions:

Not recommended during pregnancy (especially in the second and third trimesters) and lactation.

Use with caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment.

Monitor blood pressure, renal function, and electrolytes during treatment.
