Indications

• Herpes Zoster (Shingles): Accelerates the resolution of pain by reducing the duration and proportion of patients with zoster-associated pain, including acute and post-herpetic neuralgia. 

• Herpes Simplex Infections: Treats skin and mucous membrane infections, including initial and recurrent genital herpes. 

• Prevention of Herpes Simplex Infections: Reduces the risk of transmission of herpes simplex. 

 Instructions

• Herpes Zoster: 1 g three times daily for 7 days. 

• Herpes Simplex Infections:

  • Recurrent episodes: 500 mg twice daily for 5 days.

  • Initial episodes: 500 mg twice daily for 10 days. 

• Prevention of Herpes Simplex Infections:

  • Immunocompetent adults: 500 mg once daily.

  • Immunocompromised adults: 500 mg twice daily. 

• Reduction of Transmission of Genital Herpes: 500 mg daily. 

• Administration: May be taken with or without food.
