• Preservative: Benzyl Alcohol (10 mg/mL)

Indications:
Vaxcel Heparin Sodium Injection is indicated for:

• Prophylaxis and treatment of venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism
• Prevention of postoperative deep venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism in patients undergoing major surgery or at risk of thromboembolic disease
• Atrial fibrillation with embolization
• Treatment of acute and chronic consumptive coagulopathies (e.g., disseminated intravascular coagulation)
• Prevention of clotting in arterial and cardiac surgery
• Use as an anticoagulant in blood transfusions, extracorporeal circulation, and dialysis procedures
• Prophylaxis and treatment of peripheral arterial embolism

Instructions:

• For Intravenous Use: Initial dose is 5,000 units by intravenous injection, followed by 10,000 to 20,000 units subcutaneously.
• For Subcutaneous Use: 8,000 to 10,000 units every 8 to 12 hours.
• For Continuous Intravenous Infusion: 20,000 to 40,000 units over 24 hours.
