- Each tablet contains 16 mg of candesartan cilexetil.

 

Indications:

- Candesartan Sandoz 16mg Tablets are indicated for:

• Treatment of essential hypertension in adults

• Treatment of hypertension in children and adolescents aged 6 to <18 years

• Treatment of adult patients with heart failure and impaired left ventricular systolic function (left ventricular ejection fraction ≤ 40%) when Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE)-inhibitors are not tolerated or as add-on therapy to ACE-inhibitors in patients with symptomatic heart failure, despite optimal therapy, when mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists are not tolerated
  Note: Penicillin is the usual drug of choice for the treatment of Streptococcus pyogenes pharyngitis, including the prophylaxis of rheumatic fever. Azithromycin is generally effective in the eradication of streptococci from the oropharynx; however, data establishing the efficacy of azithromycin and the subsequent prevention of rheumatic fever are not available at present.

• Instructions:

  • Hypertension:

    • The recommended initial dose and usual maintenance dose is 8 mg once daily.

    • The dose may be increased to 16 mg once daily.

    • If blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled after 4 weeks of treatment with 16 mg once daily, the dose may be further increased to a maximum of 32 mg once daily.

    • Most of the antihypertensive effect is attained within 4 weeks of initiation of treatment.

  • Heart Failure:

    • The dosage should be adjusted according to the patient's response and tolerability.

    • Starting doses and titration schedules should be individualized based on clinical circumstances.

  • Administration:

    • Take the tablet at the same time each day, with or without food.

    • Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not chew or crush.

  • Missed Dose:

    • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember.

    • If it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule.

    • Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

• Storage Instructions:

  • Store at room temperature, away from light and moisture.

  • Keep out of reach of children.

  • After opening the bottle, use within 3 months.
