Content
- Active Ingredient: Each 10 mL vial contains 300 mg of lincomycin hydrochloride, equivalent to 30 mg/mL of lincomycin.
- Formulation: Sterile solution for injection, intended for intravenous (IV), intramuscular (IM), or subconjunctival administration.
- Preservative: Contains benzyl alcohol as a preservative, which may pose risks in neonates and infants.
Indications
- Severe Infections: Indicated for the treatment of serious infections caused by susceptible strains of bacteria, including:
- Streptococci
- Pneumococci
- Staphylococci
- Penicillin-Allergic Patients: Reserved for use in patients who are allergic to penicillin or for whom penicillin is inappropriate.
- Surgical Infections: May be used in conjunction with surgical procedures to treat or prevent infections.
Instructions
- Administration: Administered by healthcare professionals via:
- Slow intravenous infusion over at least 60 minutes.
- Intramuscular injection.
- Subconjunctival injection for ocular infections.
- Dosage:
- Adults:
- Intravenous (IV): 600 mg every 8–12 hours.
- Intramuscular (IM): 600 mg every 12–24 hours.
- Maximum Daily Dose: Do not exceed 8 grams per day.
- Children:
- IV/IM: 10 mg/kg every 12–24 hours.
- IV: 3.3–6.7 mg/kg every 8 hours or 5–10 mg/kg every 12 hours.
- Adults:
- Storage: Store under conditions specified on the packaging, away from children and pets.
- Precautions:
- Monitor for signs of Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea (CDAD), which can occur during or after treatment.
- Use with caution in patients with a history of gastrointestinal disease, particularly colitis.
- Monitor liver and kidney function during prolonged therapy.
- Avoid concurrent use with erythromycin due to potential antagonistic effects.
