Indication
Treatment of adults, adolescents & childn ≥6 yr w/ DM, where treatment w/ insulin is required.
 
Instruction
Should be taken with food: Administer w/in 15 min before or soon after meals.
 
Drug interaction
Medicines that may cause hypoglycemia including other antidiabetics, ACE inhibitors, disopyramide, fluoxetine, fibrates, MAOIs, pentoxifylline, propoxyphene, salicylates eg, aspirin, sulfonamide antibiotics. Medicines that may cause hyperglycemia including corticosteroids, danazol, diazoxide, diuretics, glucagon, INH, estrogens, progestogens, phenothiazine derivatives, somatropin; sympathomimetics eg, epinephrine, salbutamol, terbutaline; thyroid hormones, PIs, atypical antipsychotics eg, olanzapine & clozapine. Blood sugar level may either rise or fall w/ β-blockers, clonidine, guanethidine, reserpine, lithium salts & alcohol. May cause hypoglycaemia w/ pentamidine which may sometimes be followed by hyperglymia.
