Indications

Diflucan 150mg Capsule is indicated for the treatment of:

  • Cryptococcal meningitis and other cryptococcal infections

  • Systemic candidiasis, including candidemia and disseminated candidiasis

  • Mucosal candidiasis, such as oropharyngeal and esophageal candidiasis

  • Chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis

  • Vaginal candidiasis (acute or recurrent)

  • Candidal balanitis

  • Dermatomycosis, including tinea pedis, tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea versicolor, and dermal candida infections

  • Tinea unguium (onychomycosis) when other treatments are not appropriate

Instructions for Use

  • Administration: For oral use only. Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water. Do not chew or crush the capsule.

  • Dosage:

    • Adults:

      • Cryptococcal meningitis: 400 mg on the first day, followed by 200 mg daily for at least 10–12 weeks.

      • Systemic candidiasis: 400 mg on the first day, followed by 200 mg daily.

      • Mucosal candidiasis: 50–200 mg daily.

      • Vaginal candidiasis: 150 mg as a single dose.

    • Children:

      • The dosage is based on body weight.

      • For example, for oropharyngeal candidiasis, the usual dose is 3 mg/kg on the first day, followed by 1.5 mg/kg daily.

  • Precautions:

    • Use with caution in patients with liver or kidney impairment.

    • Not recommended during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester.

    • May cause side effects such as nausea, headache, abdominal pain, and skin rash.

    • Avoid alcohol consumption, as it may enhance side effects such as dizziness and drowsiness.
