- Active Ingredient: Each film-coated tablet contains 5 mg bisoprolol fumarate, a cardioselective β₁‑blocker that reduces heart rate and blood pressure.
Indications
Used in adults for:
- Hypertension (high blood pressure)
- Stable chronic angina pectoris (chest pain due to heart disease)
- Chronic heart failure—as part of combination therapy (with ACE inhibitors, diuretics, and possibly cardiac glycosides)
Instructions for Use
- Dosage:
- Initial: Start at 5 mg once daily, typically in the morning.
- Usual maintenance: Up to 10 mg once daily, with a maximum of 20 mg/day, depending on tolerance and response.
- Administration: Swallow tablet whole with water, with or without food, preferably in the morning. Do not crush or chew.
- Special Precautions:
- Renal/hepatic impairment: Patients with severe renal impairment (CrCl < 20 mL/min) should not exceed 10 mg/day; monitor closely.
- Heart failure initiation: Start at low dose and titrate gradually under supervision due to risk of transient worsening, hypotension, or bradycardia.
- Discontinuation: Do not stop abruptly—taper off slowly to avoid rebound cardiovascular effects.
